Grant AI Prompt Kit

Find, write and grade your farm grant application with AI, using the same process behind more than $143,796 in grants and cost-share since 2021.

Ten copy-and-paste prompts for ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, in order. Each one hands its result to the next, so by the end you have a project plan, a checked budget, a full draft and a reviewer-style score of that draft against the funder's own criteria.

See it work

We ran all ten prompts on the USDA Value-Added Producer Grant (FY2026 notice). The Budget Builder caught three problems before submission, and the Grant Grader scored the first draft 39 out of 100, then 67 after one revision, above the program's 50-point floor. The full worked example is included.

The 10 prompts

1. Farm Profile Interview: a one-page profile the AI reuses in every step
2. RFA Breakdown: eligibility, deadlines, allowable costs and the scoring criteria, with page numbers
3. Fit Check: green, yellow or red on whether to apply
4. Project Ideas: five angles built around how the grant is scored
5. Project Plan & Outcomes: objectives, timeline and measurable outcomes
6. Budget Builder: checks your budget against the rules and writes the justification
7. Section Writer: each section in the funder's headings and limits
8. Grant Grader: a strict reviewer's score for every criterion and your top fixes
9. Revise to Score: a stronger draft without inventing facts
10. Final Submission Check: a tick-box compliance checklist

Plus two bonus prompts: a letter-of-support request and an after-you-win reimbursement and photo log.

This kit shares our process and is general information, not legal, tax or financial advice. AI tools can make mistakes; you are responsible for everything you submit. The worked example uses a fictional farm with real program rules. For the buyer's own use.
